Welcome!

• Introductions
• Kristin Hurd- president, Hillary Blaire- volunteer coordinator, Jenni Kelly, Hannah Fisher
• Coach James- assistant head coach
• Coach Mike- head coach, Casa Roble HS swim coach, worked in special ed for 13 years, works at Trader Joes, wants to be a mentor for other coaches, wants it to be fun, doing your “best” is the moto. Promote learning environment for all.

 
Team overview

• Philosophy
  • The more your child comes to practice, the better they will be. There are no punishments for not coming to practice. Come as much as possible, but we also understand that there are other sports, activities, etc.
  • Goal: attend at least 3 swim meets and champs!
  • Please communicate with coaches. That is the best way to be successful.
• Time Trials, 5 Meets, Champs
  • Swim Trials-5/13
    • Practice run through meet. Just TS, if you are unable to attend, its ok
  • 5 meets-
    • All practice meets, leading up to champs. Want to see progress at meets
    • Must swim 2 dual meets to qualify to swim in champs
    • Come to the meets you can, if you need to leave early/come late you might be leaving other swimmers with no one in their relay
    • Events- swimmers can swim 3 individual and 2 relays at a meet
  • Champs @ Woodland on 7/22

 
Practice Overview

• No swimmers or siblings in the zero entry or slide area during practice- there are no lifeguards on duty and for the safety of all
• Coach Requests
  • Please let coach’s coach. Please do not coach from the side.
  • Communicate specific circumstances
  • Come to the board if you have any concerns/questions 
  • Please get fins, for sure 10 under (use everyday), but would be helpful for all to have
    • Need: “Zoomers”- 11up
    •  long fins for 10 under
  • Be on the pool deck 5 minutes before practice starts

 
Meet Overview

• Please purchase a Team Suit – Go to www.ovts.club for the link to our swimoutlet site.
  • Recommend speedo brand because lasts longer
  • Plain black suit if you prefer
  • Team suit- purchase on swimoutlet site direct link from ovts website, or get solid black
• Team apparel will be sold at all home meets.
  • Personalized caps- transitioning and hoping we can still get them
  • There are orange caps with TS logo that you can purchase at the meets
• Meet registration done online through active.com – 2 weeks prior
  • QR code on magnet- takes you directly to the registration page to register. You must register your swimmer for EVERY meet and must register volunteer position at the same time.
    • Deadline to register for a meet: Monday before the swim meet.
    • Time trials link is live. Closes may 15th, time trials is may 20th.
  • Please use the link, do not go to coaches to let them know you will or will not be there.
  • On the registration link, can choose different volunteer positions.
• Check-in @ 7am with coaches and age group parent
  • Parents also check-in with the volunteer coordinator  (Hillary) at this time
• PR Beads
  • Necklace with beads for personal record
  • child swims- if they improve on their own time they get a bead- go to bead tent after race
• Hospitality
  • At every home meet (3 this year)- bring in items by age group, an email will be sent before the meet
• No Snack Bar – Food trucks instead
  • Coffee cart - Jason
  • Kona Ice
    • At every meet
  • Breakfast burritos and lunch of tacos/quesadillas
    • Taco Truck is CASH ONLY
• Volunteering at swim meets – Hillary
  • Expectations- if your child is attending the meet, you are expected to volunteer at the meet
  • Takes 80 parents to run a swim meet
  • We need everyone to make it successful
  • There are many positions and should never miss your child swimming
  • Chat with Hillary if you want to know what position would be best for you and your family
  • Communicate with Hillary if you need to change something
  • Set up-take down, if you have a younger swimming, show up early to help set up, if you have older swimmers, stay after to help clean up!
  • Morning of the meet- parents check in with Hillary
  • Standbys may be needed day of the meet
  • Check in is 7am

 
Team Events

• Ice Cream Social, Family Relays, Buddies
  • Ice cream social 5/11
    • Ice cream social in big gym- 5/11, between practices, we will need volunteers, a request will be sent out via email
  • Family Relays 7/14- fun family event to raise $
• Fundraisers
  • Why we need fundraisers? League dues, kick boards, pop-ups, watches, medals
  • Swimathon 6/27 – what is it and how does it work?
    • Pledge per lap
    • Swim laps during practice, pancakes in the morning and nachos in the afternoon.
    • Will need volunteers to count laps

 
Communication

• Family Folders
  • Every family has a folder with their last name
    • Flyers, ribbons, handouts will be in the folder, check it Mondays!

  • No practice on picture day- May 23 @ 4:30pm
  • Buddies?
    • Cheering buddies- jr/volunteer coaches will help match up swimmers at each meet
  • Champs @ Woodland 7/22
  • Bathrooms at the pool? Who takes care of it- lifeguards are supposed to, but if there is a concern let a coach know (we will check with Jason)
  • Swimmers will “choose” what they want to swim, Coaches will ask each swimmer. Might get their second choice if too many swimmers in one event.
